Jenn & Chris | Old Fourth Ward Park Engagement

We met Jenn and Chris on a warm summer evening at the Old Fourth Ward Park in northeast Atlanta for their engagement photography portrait session.

Little blue box and a knee

For the entrepreneur and the software engineer, it took a minute for the sparks to start flying. But with patience and an assist from friends at church, a connection was finally made. Chris’ proposal was all about Jenn he wanted it as intimate as possible. Jenn had her first gathering of the year with Beauty in Me, her non-profit organization. After which, they gathered at her mother’s house. In a private room away from everyone and the excitement of the day, Chris praised Jenn on how well she had conducted the meeting. The affirming words and expressions from his heart were a little shocking and a bit overwhelming to Jenn. She felt something was different at this moment.

Relaxing at O4W Park in Atlanta Before she could comprehend the sequence of events Chris was on one knee; with a blue box, he gracefully opened it as requested her hand in marriage. Surprised, she vocalized many of her thoughts! “Oh my God Chris,” “Aww you’re so sweet,” “look at you”! Of course, she said yes! Her last words were, “I have to go get my nails done now”!

Today her nails were done, and the author was ready to cozy up to Chris as we captured some romantic images. We wrapped up our session around the lake at Old Fourth Ward Park and headed to Centennial Olympic Park. For this part of their portrait session, our beautiful couple stepped it up a couple of notches. She looked resplendent in a floor-length sleeveless red dress, and Chris was dashing in a gray suit, with opened collar black shirt. We are so looking forward to capturing their wedding day story this spring. Thanks for choosing Jaxon Photography to be part of your wedding day.Centennial Olympic Park with Ferris wheel as backdrop

Woodruff Park Downtown Engagement Session | Takiya & Richie

Atlanta’s Woodruff Park downtown was the location of choice for Takiya and Richie’s engagement photography session. The easy going Chicagoan had a chance encounter with the vivacious Atlantan a three years earlier. They both started working at the same company and met in the late summer. There were a few fits and starts but eventually, with some help from co-workers their office romance blossomed.  Woodruff Park downtown Engagement Session

A few days before her April birthday, he concocted an elaborate scheme for his proposal. The text message read. “I’m not feeling well they are going to call an ambulance, needed you to come to my department.”  Here is how she relayed the rest of the plot for his marriage proposal.

“I rushed over and everyone was looking around and I thought they were being nosey. When I got to Richie’s desk he had his head down and told me that his back & leg were hurting. I asked him what he needed me to do, and he told me that he needed me to help him walk to the men’s room. Richie got up limping and holding his back. Once we got to an opening, Richie suddenly dropped down holding his back.  I thought he had fallen and when I looked at him he had the ring in his hand. Everyone started cheering and I started crying. Richie was on one knee and asked me to marry him”.Couple next to the waterfall at Woodruff Park downtown Atlanta

DoubleTree Roswell Wedding | Chizara & Tyler

Chizara and Tyler’s DoubleTree Roswell wedding reception

Our college sweethearts tied the knot at their church home, and then celebrated their Wedding at the Doubletree in Roswell with family and friends.  As she entered the church Chizara looked stunning in a fitted, strapless, mermaid-style wedding gown. The bejeweled sweetheart neckline then flared at the knees into a foam of ruffles. Accentuating her beauty and moving Tyler to tears. He told us how he felt on seeing his bride walking into the church. “I thought she was so beautiful walking down the aisle. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her.” As Chizara entered the sanctuary at Atlanta North Seventh Day Adventist Church buttressed by her parents on either side, she looked up at her soon to be husband. She was nervous, excited, scared and super happy at the same time. She said “I started tearing up mid-way because I couldn’t believe the wedding was actually happening.”

Groomsmen men prank on grooms car

Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys and a Viola?

This was a classic wedding filled with memorable moments. Like the groomsmen pranking the groom, decorating his car with soap, shaving foam and toilet paper. Imagine the Atlanta Falcons logo painted on the grooms car’s rear window. He is a Cowboys fan. That was payback for the groom giving his groomsmen those baseball caps as a wedding gift. Others were moving such as when music filled the church as Chizara’s sister played ‘Give Thanks’ on the viola. The song is a favorite of the couple and Chizara has frequently played it on the violin at weddings. Now it was her turn to be serenaded. The performance was a special gift and the song expressed in music the overwhelming emotions the couple was feeling.

The wedding colors–plum, silver, and black–were a common thread in the attire chosen for the bridesmaids, groomsmen, the bride’s flowers, and the decor, adding to the elegant and timeless atmosphere.

After the wedding ceremony, the couple paused to could capture some photos on the Atlanta North SDA Church’s beautiful staircase. It proved to be a wonderfully romantic backdrop, complementing the joy the couple felt as they took some of their first images together as man and wife.Groom explaining his Dallas cowboys gift to his Falcons groomsmen

DoubleTree Reception and Babyface?

The Roswell Double Tree Hotel played host the couple’s elegant wedding reception. Guests snacked on hor d’oeurves (spanokopita and chicken tenders) and had fun at the photo-booth after the wedding ceremony. The DJ announced our newly wed as the newest married couple in Georgia. They entered the ballroom to loud applause here Tyler took Chizira tenderly into his arms. The couple seemed to forget everything and everyone else as locked in an embrace they swayed to the sounds of Babyface crooning ‘Everytime I Close My Eyes.’ After dining on chicken and a vegetarian pasta dish and vegetables, guests then joined in the fun,  dancing to a mix of oldies and R&B music provided by a DJ.

The cascading waterfall at the northern end of the park gave is a different feel to the images. Added to that feature is the abundance greenery and flowering plants, it’s easy to forget you are in the middle of Atlanta. We ended their Woodruff Park engagement photo session on the Jackson Street bridge showcasing downtown Atlanta’s skyline.

Tinder, a forgettable meal

Yes, they both swiped right on Tinder and had their first date at Atlantic Station. Unfortunately there will be no second chance for that restaurant to make an impression. On the flip side they had a great night together. So good that Marcus knew that “that was going to be my girl.”

They shared many dates since their first meeting and now he wanted to pull off his proposal on her birthday. Marcus hatched a plan to propose to Danielle at one of Atlanta’s iconic restaurants. The revolving Sun Dial restaurant sits atop the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel with unrivalled views of the city. He recruited her best friend to help with ring selection and keep a secret. Next he convinced her to let him plan her birthday activities.

Diamonds, apple pie and chocolate

At the end of a wonderful meal he ordered desert for his already full, then girlfriend as she took a rest room break. Unbeknown to Danielle her best friend was waiting in the restroom. Marcus had to find a way to inform her what was about to happen. After a few tense moments he was successful and the plan was back on.

The fried apple pie desert arrived with a cinnamon stick topped diamond engagement ring. On the platter written in chocolate, the question asked ‘will you marry me Danielle.’ Marcus said a lot during his proposal, however the one thing he remembers is that she said ‘YES.’ And we are happy she did.
